My Bio
WI’ve
always had music in my blood even when I didn’t even know
it myself. Always thought of myself as a ‘career’ kind of guy
growing up. Some influences in my past included listening to my older brother’s
album when I was living in Cowansville, Quebec and then later watching
him play in a Rock band in high-school. Watching and listening to music
inspired me to play an instrument and hook up with same minded friends.
I picked guitar as my first instrument although I should of paid attention
to a foreshadowing in elementary school when everyone in my class had
to learn the recorder while I played the conga.
WMy first experience with being in bands
was my graduating year of high school when I played with 2 different
bands as a rhythm guitarist. I was
pretty good but my heart wasn’t in it at the time. I liked the shows
and jams and all the creative stuff that go along with being in a band
but felt that I couldn’t keep up. In retrospect, my heart wasn’t
in the instrument and I got bored with trying to learn the guitar. After
graduation I closed the books on the music world to get a real career.
Many years went by trying to figure out what I wanted to do with myself.
I did horribly in college and eventually dropped out taking up dead-end
jobs. I don’t know how all of you feel about jobs that don’t
go anywhere but I can’t stand the thought of it and did what I
had to do until something came to mind. After some years I decided to
go back
to university to escape the routine and enrolled in Geography (Human-Environmental).
The university experience opened up my mind to the possibilities one
can pursue and the Geography degree gave me a connection and understanding
of the earth that will never leave me.
WIn my graduating year a buddy of mine decided
to learn guitar and wanted me to jam with him at his loft. I decided
I wanted to learn the drums since
I’ve always wanted to try it and had a guitar and amp collecting
dust just waiting to be traded in for a drum set. I got a bottom of the
line set (all I could get for the trade) and began jamming at the loft.
Sometimes fate hits you when you least expect it. It felt very natural
behind the kit and I always looked forward to playing it. I was even learning
stuff when I wasn’t trying, how ‘bout that!
WSo I continued to play drums with a couple bands when my old friends Chris
and Rick just quit their trio in Ottawa and moved back to Montreal and
decided to give me a try, even though at the time I was a bit wet behind
the ears. Things worked out well for us and over time we dropped our other
commitments and The Wells became our collective soul. back to top
